A. Michael's Story

Life My life after High School has been very adventurous to say the least. I continued my school career at CCAC, which I attended for about 2 years, and since I was footing the bill I had to find altenatives. I joined the United States Air Force in 1991, You got it during the height of Desert Storm. Well luckily I didn't go over there that time. I spent 6 years active duty 3 years at Dover De, and 3 years in Tokyo japan and decided to get out and try my luck elsewhere. Since my wife was from Hampton Va, we decided to move there with my then 2 year old daughter. I did several go nowhere jobs until I hooked up with Scheider National( you know the big orange trucks). I drove for them for about 1.5 years, during which I became a driver trainer. I soon became burnt out of the road and was offered a job internal with the company as a dispatcher. I liked this much better as I was home every night. In 2001 I was offered a job as a manager which involved moving the family to Charlotte NC, at this time Lynn my wife was preganant with our second bundle of joy. I took the job and sold our house in Hampton to move to Charlotte NC. I was also in an Air Force Reserve unit based at Langley AFB. In April 2003 my unit was activated to support operation I...Expand for more
raqi freedom and I was sent to Qatar and Iraq for a year. Then in 2006 I was again called to serve and was sent to Afgahnistan for 3 months. It has been a fun ride, and I now know a couple of countries I don't wish to vacation in anymore. :-) My wife and I built our home in Rock Hill SC in 2003 while I was activated and we have been steadily improving it along the way. I was just promoted to Senior Master Sergeant in the Air Force May 1st 2008. and will graduate with my MBA on June 30th 2008. Military I joined the United States Air Force in 1991, mainly to help with the costs of my education. My first duty assignment was Dover AFB DE, and was stationed there for three years. During that time went on temporary duties to many locations including Africa and Canada to mention a few. In 1994 I was reassigned to Japan at Yokota AFB just outside Tokyo. Great place if you don't mind the traffic. I had a lot of fun there and got to see much of the culture. I also had many Temporary assignment to other places during this tour. I was in Japan for three years and left in 1997, I then seperated from active duty and joined a reserve unit in Hampton VA at Langley AFB. I have been in the unit since.
